All DS games are sold on DS game cards (33.0 × 35.0 × 3.8 mm and weigh around 3.5 grams). They have a read only section for the game and a smaller section for savegames.
Currently supporting cards up to 1 gigabit (128 megabytes) in size (eg: Final Fantasy III for instance). The cards usually also have a small amount of flash memory or an EEPROM to save user data.
Printed on the back of each Cartridge are the part number and the gamecode.
