[edit] What is it
A method for saving SRAM to your SD/CF when using homebrew which does not directly access the filesystem. This applies to both GBA and DS, though not much DS homebrew uses SRAM these days.
[edit] Setup
Create an empty 64KByte file with the same name as your game/app, but with .sav extension. For example, Nibbles.nds -> Nibbles.sav, or GBATactics.gba -> GBATactics.sav
[edit] How to save
- Use your game/app as normal, then save it using normal saving method (like choosing 'Save' from the menu, or beating the level, if it auto-saves)
- Quickly turn the DS off and on again
- Press 'Right' once to select the 'Saver' tab
- Find the .sav file which corresponds to the homebrew you just used, and select it
- Pick OK when it asks 'Save to CF/SD?'
[edit] How to load
If the file is named correctly, it should automatically load the SRAM file.
